“#Hashtags Hit the Fan!”, the theme for this year’s meeting designed especially for ALL Todd County Livestock and Crop Farmers, Certified Ag Waste Technicians and Manure Pumpers, promises to be a smattering of good information, Q & A, and finger lickin’ fun at the Clarissa Ballroom on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Those of us less “techy” may ask, “What is a hashtag?” # Hashtags (or pound signs) identify messages on specific topics typically found amongst social media. #Hashtag topics such as:
#ThatStinks!, dealing with public perception of agriculture and manure- Rick Martens, Executive Director of the MN Custom Applicators Association;
#Your Land– Next Steps for the Nitrogen Fertilizer Rule– Ryan Perish, MN Dept. of AG;
#Weedwhackers– Todd County Weed Creep ID by Nancy Uhlenkamp, Ag Inspector;
#JamaisVu– Manure & Fertilizer Regulations (returning to haunt again & again)- “Déjà vu”, SWCD Livestock Advisor
all play off the social media hashtag trend with the intent to inform producers of current concerns, trends, regulations, and opportunities in agriculture.
Animal specific topics such as #Butts&Guts Disease Transmissions in Manure– John W. Piehl,DVM -USDA Verterinarian Medical Officer and Cutting Edge Composting for Farms– Brian Ziemer- Board of Animal Health; and #ThePathOutoftheBarn–Switching up Grazing Management for Soil Health- a presentation by farmer, Ryan Hough and Jeff Duchene, NRCS Grazing Specialist will round off the day. Space is limited so RSVP’s are encouraged: 320-732-2644.
