Denise Gaida is the current Todd County Auditor-Treasurer and is an elected official for 4-year terms. The Auditor-Treasurer’s Office consists of the County Auditor-Treasurer, Chief Deputy Auditor-Treasurer, and 3 Deputy Auditor-Treasurers.

Accounting & Financial:
Issues payment for County department obligations, collects all County revenues, and prepares monthly reports. Compiles and publishes the annual financial statements.
Clerk to the County Board:
County Auditor is Clerk to the County Board as defined by MN Statute. Prepares the County Board Agenda packet for publication. Records all actions of the County Board. Official custodian of the Commissioner Meeting Minutes, Board Actions, and Resolutions.
County Ditches:
The County Auditor is the keeper of the financial records of each drainage system and is responsible for filing ditch liens and assessments for maintenance.
County Budget Preparation:
Manages, compiles and publishes the annual County Budget
County Licensing:
Auctioneer, Liquor, Beer, Wine, Transient Merchant, Gambling, Large Gathering Dangerous Dog, and Fireworks
Election Administration:
County Auditor is the Chief Election Official for Todd County. Conducts Federal, State, and County primary, general and special elections. Assists Cities, Townships, and School Districts with any other elections. Maintains the County’s records within the State Voter Registration system. Provides Absentee Voting services for Todd County voters.
Property Tax Calculations:
Calculates rates and prepares tax information, tax statements and “Truth in Taxation” notices for approximately 23,000 parcels. Keeps records of all taxing district levies (townships, cities, schools, etc.)
Special Assessments:
Maintains special assessments collections as certified by the taxing authorities.
Tax Collections:
Serves the taxpayers by receiving their tax payments and assisting with balance inquiries
Tax Forfeited Land:
Administers the disposition of tax forfeited land and assists taxpayers in resolving delinquent tax amounts to avoid the forfeiture procedures from ensuing.
Tax Settlements:
Distributes tax collection settlements to all taxing districts according to MN Statutes

On October 17, 2023, the Todd County Board of Commissioners adopted the 2024 County Fee Schedule for all County departments.

Tax information will no longer be given over the phone, other than to the landowner and Escrow Agent. Individuals requesting the information will be given the options of coming in and using our public PC, having the information faxed, emailed or a copy mailed with appropriate charges applied.

Todd County offers several options to pay your taxes:
In Person: If you wish to make payment in person, you can continue to do that through the Auditor/Treasurer’s Office located in the Historic Courthouse at 215 1st Avenue South, Long Prairie, MN. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 pm (excluding holidays).
Payment Drop Box: Payments may be dropped off at the Todd County payment box, located at 215 1st Avenue South, Historic Courthouse entrance at the street level (tunnel entrance).
By Mail: Tax payments can be mailed to the Auditor/Treasurer’s Office. The postmark is the proof of timely mailing, it must be on or before the due date to avoid penalty. If a due date falls on a weekend or legal holiday, the effective due date moves to the next business day.
