Much of the land in Todd County is agricultural with farmers producing corn, soybeans, cattle and turkeys. Todd County had a number of dairy farms but unfortunately, like the rest of the State, we have seen a decline over the past few years. There are a number of Amish communities in Todd County and they produce furniture, wood products, and other items. We have many businesses and are always looking to add more. Todd County has a friendly business climate and is always looking to help businesses expand, grow, and start in our communities. Todd County has an affiliation with the Todd County Development Corporation, a non-profit which provides economic development help with small business loans and other networking opportunities for all of the businesses located in, or wanting to come to, Todd County.

Todd County Commissioners make all of the strategic decisions for the County in regards to the design of County operations, the direction of services, all financial decisions, and vision and direction of Todd County.

Where the Forest Meets the Prairie

Todd County is uniquely located in Central Minnesota, quite literally, “where the forest meets the prairie”. The land in Todd County is very unique with lakes, agriculture, rivers, and interesting rolling hills called “drumlins”. These hills are located on the eastern portion of Todd County and are geological features left over from the last ice age and the receding glaciers. The western portion of Todd County is the prairie. The land is much flatter with the Long Prairie River cutting through some of the landscape. Visitors to Todd County can take a scenic drive through Swanville and see the beauty of the “drumlins” and the rolling hills and valleys. The “drumlins” are also visible on Hwy. 27, running east and west, between Little Falls and Long Prairie, right in the heart of Todd County. Visitors can see the lakes and prairies by continuing on Hwy. 27 west or take Hwy. 71 from Sauk Centre north through Todd County. Todd County is “where the forest meets the prairie.”
