Livestock Agriculture is clearly central to the economic viability of Todd County.  Livestock farming is Todd County’s number one private employer and is number two in County Industrial Output, exceeded only by the animal processing industry on Todd County.  Todd County lies in the middle of other top Minnesota livestock counties of Stearns, Morrison, and Ottertail.  Todd County’s livestock ranking within Minnesota is eighth in dairy, fifth in beef cows, and tenth in poultry.  Todd County boasts land ideally suited to raising forage crops, close access to markets and other critical infrastructure, and a culture that is understanding of livestock industry’s needs.

University of Minnesota Extension will be holding the annual Cow/Calf Days workshop in Staples on Tuesday, February 7th starting at 9:30 am in the Assembly Room at Central Lakes College. This event has been held for over 40 years and continues to be the leading information, technology, and research outlet for cow/calf producers in the state of Minnesota. 
Cattle Feeder Days will be held on Tuesday, December 13th at 5:30pm at The Hub Supper Club, located at 30905 County Road 13 Burtrum, MN.  Registration includes an evening meal and handouts. You can pre-register online for $25/person and $15 for each additional person from the same family or farm. Pre-registration will stay open until December 12th. Registration at the event is $30/person and $15 for each additional person from the same family or farm.
