What: Todd County Dairy Goat Field Day

When: Thursday, August 3rd @ 10:00am-12:00pm

Where: Marty & Heather Olson's Farm- 15814 County 50, Long Prairie

 

Marty & Heather Olson and family of Long Prairie will host the 2017 Todd County Dairy Goat Field Day on Thursday, August 3rd from 10:00am-12:00pm. The Olson’s dairy goat farm is located at 15814 County 50, Long Prairie, MN. This is about 7.5 miles south of Long Prairie just off HWY 71 near Little Sauk. Watch for signs. The Olson’s milk 80 registered Alpine and Saanen dairy goats in a double 8 parallel parlor. They started with just 2 milking does and hope to expand to 150 within the next few years. All female kids are kept as replacements and fed heat treated colostrum, then milk replacer. Heather also makes soap, lotions, and other products from their goat’s milk. Refreshments will be provided. Sponsors include: Montchevre and Central MN Dairy Initiative.

To promote good herd health practices when visiting farms, please wear clothes that have been washed and not worn in other livestock facilities since washing. Plastic boots will be provided.
