The County Recorder is the custodian of the land records and vital statistic records pertaining to Todd County. It is the responsibility of this office to preserve these records in an archival quality format and assure easy and accurate access to the same.

Duties are defined as:

  • Record documents relating to real property transactions in Abstract & Torrens Divisions
  • Create & maintain county's tax system (taxpayer name, address & tax legal description)
  • Calculate, Collect & Receipt State Deed Tax, Mortgage Registration Tax
  • Collect & receipt Recording Fee and Well Disclosure Certificate Fee.
  • Collect & distribute Well Disclosure Certificates & Certificate of Real Estate Values.
  • Maintain indexes and issue copies of all recorded documents.
  • Maintain and issue copies of birth, death and marriage certificates.
  • Process Marriage License Applications & issue marriages license
  • Process MN drivers license and MN ID applications.
  • File and maintain Ordinations
  • File Notary Commissions

As in the past, the Todd County Courthouse will be closing at noon on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.  If you want to assure your real estate documents are recorded within the 2015 year, please get those documents presented to the recorder/registrar’s office before 11:00 on December 31, 2015. eRecording submissions close at 12:00 (noon) on December 31, 2015. Be aware splits presented for recording after noon on December 31, 2015 require the estimated 2016 taxes be paid before the split can be processed.
 MN Department of Public Safety Driver & Vehicle Services (DVS) announces that effective May 1, 2015, 13 of the 14 locations in Region Seven will see a change in the testing schedule.The Long Prairie Exam station will change from testing every Friday to ONLY testing the 1st, 3rd & 5th Friday of the month.
