It is the responsibility of the Todd County Planning & Zoning Office to ensure the development and maintenance of the Todd County zoning, individual septic treatment system, feedlot, subdivision, shoreland, gravel pit/mining and floodplain ordinances. In addition, this department is also responsible for establishing an environmental educational and protection presence in the county, facilitate regulatory programs as adopted by the county, provide education and information to citizens on environmental issues, and accomplish protection of land, air and water for the health, safety and general welfare of Todd County.

The intent of the proposed changes are to add flexibility to ordnance administration and to provide additional options for landowners seeking to implement projects on their land. None of the proposed changes are more restrictive in nature compared to current regulations. The areas being amended include processes for board appointments for Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission, Shoreland Ordinance, Septic Standards, Property Road Access Requirements, Allowed Animals Numbers in Shoreland, and handling of nonconforming land uses and structures.
