PrintPrint

Disasters strike anytime and anywhere. It takes many forms – a tornado, flood, winter storm, fire, a hazardous spill or acts of terrorism. To prepare for these disasters, emergency management can be defined as the coordination and integration of all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from or mitigate against threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other manmade disasters.

This morning I open my email and have a message from NWS TwinCities talking about a Winter Storm for Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19. This will bring an abrupt change to the beautiful weather we have had. The storm is going to bring heavy snow and winds. Time to be careful with our outdoor activities including snow shoveling.  To learn more about the hazards of shoveling; click here
With winter weather coming upon use it’s no time like the present to prepare for the enviable. During the week of November 14-18 Todd County Emergency Management will be posting different topics each day for you to learn and prepare for the winter.
