Merchant Worthless Check Program
Are you a merchant in Todd County? If so, we have a worthless check program designed for you. If you have received a bad check, you might be able to use our office’s services to help you collect.
INELIGIBLE CHECKS:
Checks under $20…we can send the initial letter, but we can’t file a complaint with the Court. If the check writer wrote another bad check to another merchant, we can combine them.
Checks over $2,000 should be reported to either the Sheriff’s Office or your local police agency that the business is located in.
Stop payment checks should be dealt with through small claims court. You should contact the court administrator in the county where the check writer lives.
TIPS:
Check ID for name, address, and driver’s license number and date of birth.
If you would like a poster to hang up in your business please contact Sonja or Jean at the Todd County Attorney’s Office (320) 732-6039.
