Market Value Credit Elimated by the State of Minnesota

PrintPrintEmailEmail

The Todd County Assessor presented the projected valuation impacts of the elimination of the Market Value Credit to the Todd County Board on September 6, 2011.  The Market Value Credit was eliminated by the State Legislature and signed in to law by the Governor, replacing it with a Market Value Exclusion.

The result of this action by the State is that property taxes will likely be higher for all properties in the County, particularly those within city limits, even though the County Board passed a levy limit at a dollar value lower than in 2011.

The County Assessor’s presentation is being made available online.  If you have questions about the valuation impacts of this State initiated tax increase, please call the County Assessors office.  If you would like to voice your concern please contact your County Commissioner or State Senator, Representative or the Governor.
