* Spring Migration Count is done throughout Todd County as part of a national effort. Participants are organized into smaller groups and divided throughout the county. Birding begins predawn and continues into dusk. Participants do not have to commit for all day. New birders will be paired up with more experienced birders.
* Christmas Bird Count (CBC), also a national effort is done locally for one 24 hour period in a 15 mile radius whose center is determined by the group. In Todd County a CBC is centered at Long Prairie. Again guidelines are followed similar to the migration count as described above.
Reports from both counts are submitted to the Minnesota Ornithology Union. Unusual birds must be documented by photo or experienced birder.
There is no cost to participate other than food and your own equipment. Meals shared are usually potluck.
