Recorder - Passport Information
| Passport Information |
| The intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (AKA 911 Intelligence Bill) mandated the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop and implement a plan to require US Citizens and foreign nationals to present a passport or other secure document when entering the US. Travel requirements will be rolled out in phases.
It might be wise to check the travel web site for more information when considering travel. www.travel.state.gov To check for the current fees required please check: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/fees/fees_837.html If you are planning on traveling and are required to obtain a passport - you can make your application with the Todd county Recorder's Office. |
| We will need: |
| Two-identical passport photos. Any photographer knows the specs for passport photos. Passport photos can be taken at the Todd County Recorder's Office also for a fee. If you are required to get a VISA, you will need four (4) identical passport photos. Your travel agent should be able to tell you if a VISA is required for where you are traveling. You must apply for your passport before you can apply for a VISA. |
| Certified Birth Certificate. This must a certified copy created by a Local Registrar or State Dept. of Health. The hospital keepsake copy is not acceptable. |
| Identification. Usually your state issued driver's license is used. If the applicant does not have a photo ID, they must bring along an Adult with a photo ID that could complete a document of Identity. |
| Signature. Applicants under age 16 years: Requires both parents' or legal guardian’s signatures or documentation of the absence of the second parent. Child required to appear also. Applicants age 14 through 17 years: Child must appear in person and personally sign his/her application. An applicant of this age who can present their own ID if available or a parent's ID can be used. Some sort of parental consent is wise. Examples being parent's check in payment of fees, parent(s) listed as emergency contact person or parent accompanies child when applying. Applicants 18 years and older. Must appear in person and provide ID or bring a person along who can complete a Document of Identity. |
| Time line. A passport is usually issued within 25 working days once Seattle Passport Agency receives the application. So the sooner the better when applying. If it's an unforeseen emergency, we can work with you on this but its costs more and there may be additional paperwork required. You may contact the Recorder's Office for an up-to-date timeline for issuance. |
This office has a policy that no passport applications will be processed after 4:00 PM unless by appointment. This is an important document and should be treated as such. If you are missing any of the above items, we will not accept your application that day – you will need to return at another time. If you have questions or would like to make an appointment for after 4:00, please feel free to contact this office at 320-732-4428 |
