Public Health - Who We Are
Protecting the health of the public is a primary responsibility of government. In MN, both state and county government work together, each fulfilling its role, to make up the public health system.
The Todd County Public Health Department provides services to individuals, families, schools, organizations, and communities to promote and protect the health of the residents of Todd County. Education, services, policy and regulatory functions, and partnering with organizations include some of the approaches to protecting the public’s health.
Todd County Public Health has six main program areas:
• Family Health Services
• Skilled Home Care, and Long Term Care Consultation and Coordination
• Disease Prevention and Control
• Public Health Emergency Preparedness
• Environmental Health
• Administration & Planning
Individuals and families receive health care assessment, prevention, and early intervention services, and skilled nursing and case management services through home visits and public health clinics.
Organizations, youth, and communities are addressed through projects with an emphasis on promoting healthy behaviors and choices.
Certain laws, ordinances, programs and policies are assigned to the public health department for assessments, inspections, and enforcements.
